Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish has not had to look far to sign new striker Nathan Elder.
The 27-year-old striker lives just down the road in Greenhithe, and turned down offers to play in the Midlands in order to stay close to his family.
Elder started at Thameside neighbours Aveley before 36 goals in 26 games for Billericay earned him a move to Brighton. He also had spells at Brentford and Shrewsbury.
He moved to relegated Hayes last season, before ending the campaign at Hereford, but was unable to save them from dropping out of the Football League.
FDaish (pictured) said: "He is a good acquisition, strong and the right age, and ticks all the boxes for us. I had an initial meeting with him which went well.
"He is a good character, wants to work hard and will fill the void left by Calum Willock. I moved quickly for him when he first came to my notice, and we beat several good clubs to get him."
Fleet look set for a much-needed financial boost, after former defender Michael Bostwick left Stevenage to join Championship side Peterborough this week.
The fee was undisclosed, but it is thought Fleet could be in line for a 15% sell-on fee, following his move to Broadhall Way in May 2008, soon after helping the Fleet lift the FA Trophy.
Ebbsfleet are at Tonbridge this Saturday in their first pre-season friendly.
