Michael West says his four goals for Ebbsfleet in the Blue Square Bet South promotion semi-final against Chelmsford has helped regain the confidence which had been lacking from his game.

The teenage striker (pictured) said: "I don’t know why I lost it in the first place. These things happen and thankfully I have got it back.

"I should have got a hat-trick at Chelmsford and the goals in both games were similar. They came in quick succession, killed the game off and helped us sit back and play our football. The first one on Sunday was all about Shakesy.

"He is so fast. I don’t know how he got to the ball to bring it back and I was there to put the finishing touch on the cross.

"The gaffer told me I was on free-kicks and I said to Scott Ginty that I was going to score if I got one."
