Midfielder Tom Phipp has been Fleet’s outstanding performer in the first week of the season.
That was the verdict of Fleet boss Liam Daish, who singled out Phipp (pictured) for praise after Tuesday’s defeat to Braintree.
The youth team product scored twice in the 5-4 win at Nuneaton on Saturday and nearly opened the scoring against Braintree, only to be denied by the woodwork.
"Tom Phipp stood out a mile and looked like the Tom Phipp of a couple of years ago," said Daish. "He showed me that he was back on form again.
"Whether the two goals on Saturday gave him more confidence? We played him in a slightly different position to Saturday and he did well.
"He was all-action, physical and showed quality. I thought he was the best player on the pitch."
Fleet host Wrexham on Saturday with Patrick Ada banned after his red card against Braintree.
Centre-back Phil Walsh will start in defence and Craig Stone (hamstring) could be on the bench.
