Firefighters rescued an elderly woman as they extinguished house fire in Gravesend this afternoon.
Crews were called to Stanbrook Road just before 1.45pm to reports of a blaze in a bedroom.
Some occupants had evacuated the house but crews had to lead an elderly woman to safety.
The blaze, which is thought to have been started by smoking materials, was limited to the bedroom and only damaged clothes and bedding, although the house had to be cleared of smoke.
There were no smoke alarms in the property and firefighters have reiterated advice to ensure properties are fitted with working smoke alarms.
