Stuck for something to do? Then how about a 32,000-piece jigsaw to keep you busy?
The jaw-dropping puzzle is just one of more than 1,000 in stock at a well-known and much loved toy shop.
Nuxley Toys, in Milton Road, is a family-run business that has played a part in the Christmases and birthdays of children across Gravesham for 42 years.
It has been the go-to place for teddies, pocket-money treats and dressing-up costumes, but now it is a haven of jigsaw puzzles – with more than 1,000 in stock.
The speciality items range from toddler’s wooden puzzles to one with a staggering 32,000 pieces.
Children’s characters, cats and dogs and Star Wars specials feature in the collection catering for people aged one to 100.
Despite still stocking an array of colourful costumes and family board games, it’s the jigsaw puzzles that keep the business running, with at least three boxes flying off of the shelves each day.
Manager Richard Ray, 49, said: “Over the years, bits and pieces have been taken away from us, as people are now buying more and more from supermarkets or online, meaning they forget about the toy shop, but jigsaws have become our niche.
“We sell more puzzles than anything else, we have even developed a certain clientele for them.
“The puzzles come in all shapes and sizes and people can’t seem to get enough of them.”
The toy shop used to be a franchise, with stores in Welling and other parts of Kent.
Now Mr Ray jokes about becoming Nuxley Puzzles.
After all, small pieces always make a bigger picture.
