A huge blaze in a field was tackled by 15 fire crews for more than three hours.
People were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke coming from the fire off Church Road, Cobham, near Gravesend.
At its height, 15 fire crews, a bulk water carrier and technical rescue unit were in attendance.
Residents reported seeing the smoke from as far away as Singlewell and Harmer Street.
The fire began just before 7pm and one resident said it had started in a combine harvester.
People living and working in the immediate area were advised by the fire service to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.
At 10.10pm, a fire service spokesman said: "A field fire off Church Road, in Cobham, Gravesend, is now out and firefighters are dampening down any remaining hot spots.
"At the height of the incident, 15 fire engines, a bulk water carrier, four all-terrain vehicles and the technical rescue unit were in attendance.
"No injuries have been reported and the cause is not yet known.
"The earlier advice for people in the area to close windows and doors is no longer in place."
