Fire crews were called to an industrial estate after a blaze broke out inside a dryer.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at a site in Mark Lane, Gravesend, by staff just before 8pm yesterday.
The building was evacuated before crews arrived.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and a fogspike to extinguish the flames.
One man was assessed by paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke.
The incident took around an hour to clear.
It was then handed back to the shift manager and crews left at about 9.30pm.
