Fire crews are still at the scene of a large haystack blaze.
Emergency crews are working to extinguish the flames in Church Road, Ifield, near Cobham, after being called just before 1pm yesterday afternoon (August 29).
Fire five engines, a bulk water carrier and a technical rescue unit were at the scene at the height of the fire.
Pictures showed orange flames engulfing a stack of hay on the farmland with plumes of smoke billowing across the sky.
People were asked to avoid the area and to share the warning with others who may not have access to the internet.
At 8.30pm yesterday Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said: “Two fire engines remain at the scene where firefighters are making good progress to extinguish the fire.”
By 9.30am this morning (August 30), operations had been scaled back with only one fire engine still on site.
This afternoon a spokesperson said there is expected to be a fire service at the site across the weekend.
Earlier advice to avoid the area is still in place.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
It is not the first time firefighters have been called to a blaze involving haystacks in this area.
Last year, 6,000 tons of hay bales burnt for five days.
Fire crews were called to the field at around 7.45pm on May 28 and operations did not end until May 31.
