Ebbsfleet United were hit for six by Blue Square Premier leaders Fleetwood on Tuesday night.

It’s unlikely to be the most memorable of games for the returning Lance Cronin, who replaced the suspended Preston Edwards in goal.

Fleet took the lead after 15 minutes when Liam Enver-Marum (pictured) fired home from the edge of the box, but the lead lasted barely 60 seconds as the table toppers hit back through Gareth Seddon.

Fleetwood then raced into a 4-1 half-time lead with further strikes from Peter Cavanagh, Jamie Vardy and an Andy Mangan penalty.

Fleet boss Liam Daish introduced Tom Phipp and Ricky Shakes at the start of the second half, but they could do little to stop Vardy hitting Fleetwood’s fifth just three minutes in.

Vardy completed his hat-trick on 58 minutes with a lob over Cronin, before Enver-Marum added his second five minutes from time.
