A congregation has raised nearly £4,000 for the people affected by the floods in Kerala in India.
The Sangat of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, Gravesend, gave donations to the charity Khalsa Aid which works all over the world to help people who have been affected by natural disaster and conflict.
The organisation follows the Sikh principle to “recognise the whole human race as one”.
Khalsa Aid founder and chief executive Ravi Singh visited the Gurdwara last Thursday to collect the donations.
Member of the Sangat, Jagdev Singh Virdee, 62, said: “We all thought that the donations were a good way to help the charity.
“A lot of these charities help people immediately and then leave but Khalsa stays and helps them to rebuild as well.
“It is a great charity and we always try to help whenever we can.
“It was an effort of the whole community and this is just a small drop of what is needed."
