Buyers feeling flush as Northfleet toilet block sells for £56,000 above guide price

Thought the property market was going down the pan? It looks like you'll have to wait a wee while yet.

This toilet block in Northfleet just sold for £86,000 after being put up for auction with a £25-30,000 guide price.

The former W.Cs were due to be auctioned among 159 lots on Tuesday at Clive Emson Conference Centre, Kent County Show Ground, but were instead sold in an online auction.

Put up as lot number 25 – cruelling denying anyone the chance to make puns about lot number two – the toilets fetched a whopping £56,000 more than the guide price for sellers Gravesham Council.

Advertised by Clive Emson auctioneers as "toilet building for sale – no chain", buyers clearly smelt potential in the "brick-built, rectangular building which is close to local shops".

John Stockey, auctioneer, said: “There might well be scope to develop this site in various directions as long as all necessary consents are obtainable.”

Keep an eye on the Clive Emson website for future job lots.

The next sale is listed for May 4, but in light of the situation with the Coronavirus this might change, and all interested parties are advised to check for updates on the website.
