Another historic pub has gone on the market.
The former Manor Shades, in Gravesend town centre, is being listed for let for just under £1,480 per month.
The boozer, in Manor Road, was first established in 1879 and was then run as a public house for more than 130 years.
It is thought to have closed in 2012, when it was known as Pauline’s Manor Shades, and rumours surrounding its future have been rife ever since.
In 2016, plans were submitted to Gravesham council to covert the premises into a residential dwelling – but these were refused on the grounds it would lead to the loss of retail space, it did not meet housing standards and it would cause harm to the historic interest of the building.
It remained vacant after the refusal and no more plans were put forward.
But then late last year, videos were shared on social media platform TikTok by a group of friends who said they were transforming the public house into a new cocktail bar.
They shared clips of them transforming the building by painting the walls bright green, pink and blue, creating a graffiti feature and installing a custom-made bar.
According to the posts, the new tenants hoped to open the venture, which was to be known as Mouthie Bar, in December 2022.
But despite teasing a final video showcasing the finished look there has been no more updates, with users asking what has happened.
KentOnline has attempted to contact the parties for more information but has not received a response.
The 812 sq ft premises is now up for let with Sealeys Estate Agents for £1,479.17 rent per month.
The listings says the pub includes a large bar area, men’s and women’s toilets, a large cellar for drinks’ storage and a courtyard.
