Ebbsfleet came from a goal behind to cling on for a 3-2 win on the road at Gateshead.
Goals from Neil Barrett, Liam Enver-Marum (pictured) and a Gozie Ugwu penalty turned the game around after Micky Cummins put Gateshead ahead on 15 minutes.
Paul Gascoigne was in the crowd at the International Stadium to see Liam Daish’s men mount a fightback when Enver-Marum’s 55th minute free kick on the edge of the area hit the bar and allowed Barrett to finish from close range.
Substitute Nathaniel Pinney provided the ammunition for Fleet’s second sending a ball across the area on 78 minutes for Enver-Marum to finish at the far post. He played a part in the third 10 minutes later when his corner led to a foul on Ugwu in the penalty area by James Curtis.
The Reading loanee stepped up to make it 3-1 from the spot and score his third goal in four games.
There was still time for Jon Shaw to glance a header past Lance Cronin from Josh Gillies’ cross to make it 3-2. But, Fleet held on in stoppage time for their second successive win at Gateshead.
Manager Liam Daish: “It’s a great result for us and a massive three points as a lot went against us last week against Southport.
“We needed a result today and the players gave that with the manner of their performance. We hadn’t done well enough before today against sides above us, but we finished well towards end of the first half and then pushed on and built on it after the break.
“I thought we were worthy of all three points on that display after a less than impressive start.
“We stood off too much to begin with and I wanted a bit more enthusiasm off the ball. We worked on that, put pressure on Gateshead and it helped turn things around.”
