Green party candidate Marna Gilligan said she felt "really mixed".

She said the campaign had "put climate change on the agenda" but was disappointed that the poll had indicated a Tory majority which she said would mean a "heavy Brexit".

"I spoke to people who said they would like to vote Green but said they couldn't," she said.

1.17:

Adam Holloway (Con) said he was reluctant to read too much into the result of the exit poll, which is predicting an outright majority for the Conservatives.

"I'm not going to say i'm going to win as that does not respect the people living here," he said.

The candidate has been a vocal supporter of Brexit as a member of the parliamentary lobby group Leave Means Leave.

He said it had been a decisive issue for voters.

"The people here not stupid," he said.

"Even though I'm for Brexit if the people had voted to remain I would have respected that."

1.03:

Reacting to the disappointing exit poll for her party Lauren Sullivan (Lab) said "lets wait to see the full result".

She said it wasn't looking good for her party but as a scientist she always looks for certainty.

The Northfleet North councillor said she had led a positive campaign and had a great reaction on the doorstop.

Most conversations she said had been about the NHS and "underfunded schools".

She added: "Only about 5% of conversations have been about Brexit."

Labour's candidate said it had been "a really short campaign" and had been "quite different" compared to local elections.

The scientist admitted it had not always been easy to sell parts of her parties' manifesto as "positive".
