An express delivery service bringing groceries to the doorstep in as little as 30 minutes has been launched by a savvy shopkeeper.
John Cheema, who runs a shop in Gravesend, has only just started the Snappy Shopper online facility, but already the number of customers has doubled and he is considering taking on more staff.
John, 57, who has run the Premier convenience store for more than 30 years, said shoppers include young single mums who may have run out of baby food to elderly, vulnerable people who cannot get supermarket online slots or risk stepping out of their homes.
John is currently supplying to a seven-mile radius from his store in Kitchener Avenue and with a maximum delivery charge and minimum bill of £10 pledges to get goods to homes within an hour.
Areas covered include Greenhithe, Higham, Bean, Istead Rise, Ifield and Southfleet.
The father-of-three, who runs his business with wife Sue, has been overwhelmed by the success of his latest venture.
He said: "We only started off a week ago with just one customer and then two by the next day, and three and already we have about 30, with some already making repeat orders.
"It's a no-brainer and I shall be carrying this on when all of this is over"
