A mother has spoken of her anguish after her daughter was hit by a car when crossing a road.
Chloe Smith, 12, was on her way home from school when she was struck in New House Lane, Northfleet, near Shears Green Primary.
The St George's Secondary School pupil was taking her usual route when a car she says was driving along the middle of the road hit her after she tripped over trying to move out of the way.
Mum Kerrie Patterson said: "I'm quite cautious of her crossing the road. She's been taught from a young age she doesn't cross the road without looking both ways until it is completely clear.
"She's quite scared of crossing the road in general, she knows to wait, she's a very sensible 12-year-old.
"She went to cross the road, there was nothing coming, looked back, the car came out of nowhere. She tried to go back so the car could go pass and tripped and the car hit her on the head."
Chloe ended up with grazes on her arms and legs, a bump on her head and a broken phone.
She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford and was discharged the same day.
Kerrie added: "She was very lucky to not have major injuries.
"I'm really worried, I don't want her to walk home from school any more but she won't get on a bus because of the virus so I'm stuck in a predicament."
The driver of the vehicle stopped to make sure Chloe was okay and no further inquiries are being made.
Police spokesman Sally Smith said: "We were called at 3.30pm following a report of a road traffic collision involving a child and a car.
"The child is reported to have sustained a minor injury."
