A GOOD Samaritan who came to the rescue of a man after he was attacked in Gravesend is being urged to get in touch with police.
The man, who is possibly called Nick, helped the victim and arranged for a taxi to take him to hospital for treatment.
The victim, who is from Birmingham, was working in the town and had been out for the night with friends.
He was attacked in the New Road/High Street area of Gravesend, possibly near Woolworths, by one of a group of young men after he asked them where he could get some food.
He suffered fractures to his eye socket and nose in the attack and has undergone surgery for his injuries.
The incident happened at between 3.45am and 4.30am on Sunday, November 9.
Det Sgt Samuel Hudson-Gool is in charge of the investigation. He said: “We need to speak to the person who helped the victim as they may have vital information which will help with our investigation into what was a very nasty and unprovoked attack.
“It is also possible that other people leaving venues in the town centre were around at the time and may have witnessed the assault.”
The attacker was white, in his mid 20s and 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in. He had short dark hair and was wearing a white top.
If you have information which may help police, call Det Sgt Hudson-Gool at North Kent Police Station on 01474 366098 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
