Veterans were joined by schoolchildren to mark the start of Armed Forces Week in Gravesend on Monday.
Medals were worn with pride as the Union Flag was hoisted at the community square in celebration and commemoration of the service and sacrifice of those who have dedicated themselves to protecting the nation.
A wartime-themed concert was held as memories flew back to the 1940s and comrades swapped nostalgic stories about their experiences - and remembered the fallen.
Armed Forces Week is a national event culminating in a nation-wide celebration on Saturday.
