Leaders Gravesend produced a mixture of brilliance and mediocrity to record their eighth successive London 1 South win with a 29-6 win at Beckenham on Saturday.
Four tries eased them to maximum points, with Gary Gray adding three conversions, as they finished strongly after a hesitant start which saw them trail 3-0 to an early penalty.
Dan Abbey’s try converted by Gray made it 7-3 before Adam Bishop ran between the posts for another converted score as Gravesend took a 14-3 half-time lead.
The sides traded penalties at the start of the second half, Gray’s boot making it 17-6.
Then replacement full-back Tom Bishop combined with Matt Clement to extend the lead to 22-6. Gray missed the conversion.
Gray got the fourth try himself, converting with the last kick of the game.
Gravesend hold their Captain's Day Lunch on Saturday before the home game against Cobham.
