Chris Meddings scored two tries and kicked four conversions as Gravesend produced one of their best displays of the season to help beat Guernsey 33-20.
A bumper Rectory Field crowd saw Adam Bishop touch down to put the Gs in front before the Channel Islanders struck back with a penalty. However, Gravesend extended their lead when captain Ashley Moorey crossed for a try which Meddings converted.
Two Guernsey tries in quick succession turned the game on its head and the visitors led 15-14 until Meddings burst through to score on the stroke of half-time.
Back came the visitors with another try after the restart. With the Gs leading 21-20, it looked like anyone’s game but a second Meddings try and one for Alex Buller put the result beyond doubt.
Gravesend’s second win of the season – and their first at home – leaves them eight points clear of second-bottom Tring.
It also keeps them in touch with the cluster of teams immediately above them in National 3 London & South East.
