Gravesend suffered a surprise 16-9 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Luton in National League 3 London & South East on Saturday.
The visitors, playing into the wind and the rain in the first half, were chasing the game as early as the third minute when Luton scored a penalty.
Gs shipped another seven points after the hosts charged down Dave Dorton's kick inside the 22 for a converted score, but got themselves on the board two minutes after the break when Dorton struck the first of three penalties.
Luton quickly restored their 10-point advantage with their second penalty, before Dorton cut the deficit with his second successful kick.
Dorton then added another three points, putting Gravesend within a try of the lead, but their remaining efforts proved in vain while Luton increased their tally with yet another penalty before the finish.
