Gravesend let their first half advantage slip against a Tring side who rallied after the break for a 27-18 victory.
The visiting Gravesend side looked set for victory in the National League 3 London & South East fixture, leading 12-3 at the break, but a Tring revival saw them leave empty handing.
Despite going behind to an early penalty it wasn't long before Gravesend got their first points on the board and two successful penalties from Dave Dorton (pictured) put them 6-3 ahead.
Gs had most of the possession but were struggling to make it count. It was left for Dorton to kick two more three-pointers to extend Gravesend's lead and they went into the break 12-3 ahead.
The Tring side came out for the second half much livelier and they scored the first try of the match through Ben Criddle. A second try, from opposite winger William Mateai, put the hosts ahead and it needed the boot of Dorton to level it up at 15-15.
Criddle and Mateai scored another try each and the hosts led 27-15.
Dorton's sixth successful penalty pulled Gs back closer but it was as close as they got.
