It was welcome back to half of 90s Irish girl band B*Witched when they topped the bill at this year’s Gravesham Riverside Festival.
Twins Edele and Keavy Lynch, two of the four, starred in Robin Hood at The Woodville last Christmas but were back with the rest of the band - Lindsay Armaou and Sinead O'Carroll - on Saturday to headline the free music festival on Gordon Promenade.
Best known for their hits C’est La Vie and Roller Coaster, 20,000 people flocked to the prom to see them and more.
The council-run summer event was bigger than ever and is always a highlight on the Gravesend calender.
Music fans were treated to performances from various bands and singers including local band The Unknown, and tribute acts to UB40 and David Bowie, as well as Fake That and Just Bieber.
A DJ kept the dance tent lively throughout the day and circus performers shared a few tips teaching people a spot of juggling, plate-spinning and stilt walking.
Youngsters loved the rides at the funfair and could get a ride on a pony or watch a magnificent bird display.
There were also plenty of food stalls offering everything from a traditional hog roast to tasty cakes.
A spokesman said: “The festival was not just a bunch of fun and games, but also offered an educational opportunity for the council’s apprentices who showcased the Interface Experience, a taster of how a youth market may operate where young traders were able to sell their unique products.”
In the New Tavern Fort area in Fort Gardens there was a traditional atmosphere with a Country Fayre, offering folk music and more.
Visitors watched ferret racing, could pet farm animals and enjoy a glass or two at the special Pimms bar.
Council leader Cllr John Cubitt said: “There was something for everyone and it was marvellous family day out for thousands.
"The music was varied and the efforts of the council staff were remarkable. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a wonderful day to remember.”
