The new mayor of Gravesham has promised to promote the best of the borough.
Cllr Mick Wenban (Con), who is also the Messenger’s River Views correspondent, was unveiled as Mayor at Gravesham council’s annual meeting on Tuesday night.
Cllr Wenban, who represents Woodlands ward, will be taking over from Cllr John Caller (Lab).
The mayor announced Fiona Strike as his mayoress – his wife will not be taking a position in office – and Cllr Greta Goatley (Con), who represents Central ward, as his deputy mayor.
He also named Jacqueline Littlewood, who serves as the associate priest at Christ Church in Gravesend, as his chaplain.
Cllr Wenban said he was very proud to be elected unanimously into office by his colleagues.
He also said the service of former Mayor and Mayoress John and Sue Caller was “exemplary”.
He said: “I promise as Mayor that I will always promote this borough the best I possibly can.”
