Ebbsfleet moved up to second place in the Blue Square Bet South with a 4-2 win at Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday.
The victory, Fleet’s second away success in three days, leaves Liam Daish’s side six points behind leaders Braintree in the battle for promotion.
Calum Willock finished off some neat play for his 13th goal of the season to give Fleet a 33rd-minute lead, an advantage they were seconds from taking into the interval until Ryan Blake conceded a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Undeterred, Fleet took control with two goals in four minutes after the break. Conor Okus won and converted the game’s second penalty after 47 minutes, before Ricky Shakes – with his first goal of the season – made it 3-1 two minutes later after good work from Craig Stone.
Fleet faced an anxious finish when David Tarpey pulled one back on 84 minutes, but Shakes (pictured) settled any nerves with his second from Michael West’s pass with four minutes left.
