The streets of Gravesend town centre were awash with a sea of red and white to mark all that’s great about England on St George’s Day.
A free brass band concert kicked off the celebrations in Community Square at 10am this morning.
About 1,000 youngsters from 24 primary and secondary schools took part in an hour-long procession from 10.30am.
The parade headed off from outside the Towncentric offices in St George’s Square, up the High Street and into New Road.
There, a packed street of onlookers cheered as the children paraded carrying arts and crafts they'd made at school.
The parade made its way through the St George’s Shopping Centre, back into New Road and along Windmill Street before finishing on Community Square outside the Civic Centre.
The event has been organised by Kent Equality Cohesion Council, Gravesham council and Cohesion Plus.
Children taking part come from: St Botolphs, Riverview Juniors, Saint George’s, Wrotham Road, Rosherville, Ifield, Dover Road.
St John’s Comprehensive, Northfleet Technology College, Northfleet School for Girls, St John’s primary, St Joseph’s, Raynehurst Community.
Whitehill, Cecil Road, Holy Trinity, Westcourt, Kings Farm, Shears Green Juniors and Infants, Thamesview, Culverstone Green, Istead Rise and Meopham Community Academy.
