Hartley Country Club lost a thrilling Premier Division clash against Sevenoaks Vine on Saturday - their first Shepherd Neame Kent League defeat since last August.
The home side won the toss and put Sevenoaks into bat, but despite Matthew Coles taking a wicket before a run had been scored, Vine hit back to reach 221-9 from 55 overs.
Daniel Redwood’s three-over burst produced 4-25, while Andrew Tutt also weighed in with two wickets.
Despite a disappointing start to their reply, last season’s champions were eased into contention through contributions of 71 from James Thompson (pictured) and 53 from Coles.
However, James Cramp (22) was the only other player to score more than 13 and despite being in touch at 189-7, Hartley lost their final three wickets in quick succession to slump to 207 all out, 14 runs short of their target.
