Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish said he was "shocked and surprised" to have a stand named in his honour at Stonebridge Road.

The stand was named before the 1-0 home win over Leyton Orient on Saturday, to mark his achievement at becoming the club’s longest serving manager.

A guard of honour and a presentation by skipper Paul Lorraine preceded the game, decided by Fleet new-boy Nathan Elder’s winner.

Daish said: "I sensed something was going on but it was still a shock. Seven years is a long time there has been some ups-and-downs and some heartache but a lot of joy.

"I am appreciative of all the people that have supported me."

Ebbsfleet host Gillingham in their latest warm-up game at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

They travel to Maidstone’s new Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm).
