IT was a sunny and smiley day as the International High Street festival came to Gravesend.

Hundreds flocked to the usually quiet end of town on Saturday for some fun, games and fantastic entertainment.

Deputy Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Bronwen McGarrity opened the festival at 10am, closely followed by the Salvador Mariachi Band who gave many great performances throughout the day.

Cllr McGarrity said: "It was absolutely wonderful. It was lovely to see the older generation bringing along both their children and grandchildren to show them what it used to be like in the old days."

Audiences looked on with amazement as strong man Paul Carter pulled a car up the sloping High Street and families soaked up the sunshine while watching acts Precious and Frank and Stein in Town Pier Square.
