Ebbsfleet's mini-revival was ended by a late goal at Histon on Tuesday night as they lost to the Stutes for the fifth time in succession in Blue Square Premier.
After three games without defeat, the Fleet began brightly with Magno Vieira replacing the injured James Lindie in the only change.
Leon Crooks and Darius Charles were again solid at the back in front of Lance Cronin and at the other end, Luis Cumbers could have done better when heading over.
Cronin made a fine stop to keep out Michael Frew’s long-range effort 10 minutes before the interval before Frew set up Jamie Barker on 45 minutes, only for his goalbound effort to be blocked by Will Salmon.
Fleet continued to knock the ball around after the break with Cumbers impressing and at the other end Cronin denying Josh Simpson and Nathanie Knight-Percival.
Histon looked the more likely scorers as the game wore on and after 83 minutes Knight-Percival crossed from the left and midfielder Simpson was able to convert an easy chance.
