chYps Children’s Hospice scooped £10,000 over the weekend thanks To Cheryl Fergison's performance as Dusty Springfield on Your Face Sounds Familiar.
Celeb supporter Cheryl Fergison, aka Heather Trott in EastEnders, donned a dusty blonde wig on the music performance extravaganza on Saturday, in a bid to win her local children’s hospice £10,000.
Winning the cash, Cheryl fought off competition from Alexander Armstrong as Johnny Cash, Matt Johnson as Jon Bon Jovi, Bobby Davro as Tom Jones, Denise Lewis as Tina Turner, and Natalie Anderson's Katy Perry.
The celebrity with the most points at the end of each show will receive a cash prize for a charity of their choice with a further grand prize pot for the series champion.
As a charity, not part of the NHS, chYps needs to fundraise over £1.47 million every year to be able to provide hospice care in the homes of seriously ill babies, children and young adults across Kent.
Cheryl, 47, said: “I was very keen to support a charity which is close to home, both in location and from personal experiences. chYps is on my doorstep and my son wasn’t very well when he was born - over the years I had to deal with a lot with him.
“The chYps nurses and support staff are incredibly passionate and so driven to provide the best care for their young patients and their families.
"They ensure poorly children can be cared for at home, in a place of comfort, with their parents and siblings.
"I hope everyone votes for me so I can win some vital funds for this exceptional charity.”
Next week's performances will be: Cherly Fergison - Anastacia; Alexander Armstrong – Johnny Rotten; Natalie Anderson – Britney Spears; Bobby Davro – Mick Jagger; Denise Lewis - Lenny Kravitz; Matt Johnson – Taylor Swift.
Rachel Holweger, director of fundraising at chYps, is also calling on supporters to tune in and vote.
She said: “We are dependant on the community to fund this vital care for very sick children and their families.
"To be the chosen charity is fantastic for our profile, helping to tell more and more people about what we do. We’re very excited about the programme and thank Cheryl enormously for her support - we now need her to win.”
The show continues this Saturday on ITV1 at 7.30pm.
