A spokesman for KFRS said: "The fire is believed to have started accidentally after radiated heat from hot ash in a bucket caused nearby wood to catch alight."

Following the incident, the fire service has issued a reminder about disposing of hot ash, especially as many people are now lighting fires at home.

It said: "Make sure hot ash is kept well away from anything that could catch fire. Even when placed in a fire-safe container like a metal bucket, always check it is cold before you throw it away in a bin."

Crews spent 20 minutes using water jets to put the fire out. There were no reported injuries. The incident happened at 5.30pm.
