A pensioner was attacked in the street and taken to hospital after suffering nasty injuries.
Officers are now trying to trace a man with a "stocky build" after the victim was assaulted in Gravesend.
The victim, aged in his 70s, was attacked at random while he was in Whitehill Parade at about 7.40pm on Saturday, January 2.
The victim was approached close to the junction with Whitehill Lane near the parade of shops and Tesco Express.
He was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his face and arms.
Police have issued a description of the man they wish to question and have asked for the public's help and witnesses to come forward.
The suspect is described as being white, in his mid-20s and around 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky build.
He was wearing a grey hooded jumper, with the hood up, and matching grey jogging bottoms.
He was also wearing black trainers and was last seen running towards Whitehill Lane.
