DETECTIVES today renewed an appeal for information three years on from the murder of a Kent man.

Police officers still wish to trace two men in connection with Kamaljit Kalon's killing. Both men are well known within the Gravesend community and also have strong links with India.

Photographs of the men, Baljinder Singh Kooner, 31, known as Jinder, and Guljinder Singh Gurewel, 29, known as Sukha, were released in August 2004.

Kamaljit, who was known as Bobby, was 31 when he was stabbed in Gordon Promenade, off Commercial Road, Gravesend, on July 10, 2003. He had gone there from his home in Sidcup to a pre-arranged meeting with some men he knew.

His death left behind a widow Ravinder, to whom he had been married for two years. Mrs Kalon has three children by a previous marriage but Kamaljit had soon become part of the family.

Det Chief Inspector Anne Brittain, who is heading up the murder inquiry team, said: "The investigation into the murder of Kamaljit Kalon will continue. This case will remain open until the individuals responsible are brought to justice.

"We would like the men known as Jinder and Sukha to come forward and speak to us, as they may have information about what happened to Kamaljit.

"They are well known by many people in the community of Gravesend, and also have strong connections with India. My appeal for information is just as relevant now as it was when the murder happened.

"It is quite feasible that people who know them may come across them either in this country or in India and we would urge that anyone with information about where they are to come forward."
