A friend of Vigo school friends Joe Fitton and Charlie Carver wept at their inquests today as she described the moments leading up to the crash that killed them.
Rebecca Sharp was in the passenger seat of a silver Rover driven by Mr Fitton when he lost control after navigating a bend in Harvel Road.
As the car spun out into the road, it collided with a grey Skoda being driven in the opposite direction by Roger Haydon.
Miss Sharp survived the crash but the men, both 18, were declared dead at the scene.
She attended their inquests today at Gravesend Old Town Hall, leaving in tears as her evidence was being read by coroner Alan Blunsdon.
Her statement said: "I remember hitting my head on the windscreen and then I must have blacked out.
"I woke up before paramedics arrived because I heard Joe next to me making a noise. I couldn't hear anything from Charlie.
"I remember going in the ambulance but I didn't find out about the boys until an hour-and-a-half later.
"I wasn't wearing my seatbelt but they both did. I don't know why I'm still here and they are not."
The court heard Joe picked up Rebecca and Charlie from Charlie's home in Highview before a trip to her friend's in Borough Green to pick up her cat.
Investigating officer PC John Burley said there were no vehicle or highway defects at the time of the crash.
He told the coroner that Mr Fitton either approached the bend too quickly or over-corrected his steering when applying the brakes.
The coroner ruled the pair's deaths were caused by a road traffic collision.
