A Northfleet couple have raised more than £700 for charity with a Christmas lights display.
Paul and Lisa Matthews have been putting on magnificent displays outside their home in Romney Road for almost decade, and have been using them to raise money for Ellenor for the last three years.
By Christmas Eve this year's display had raised £787 for the charity, which supports families facing terminal illnesses.
“We started doing our lights Christmas in 2009 a year after our first Grandchild was born for both our family and the local community," said Mr Matthews. "They have been growing each year to the point where we change the display annually. Sitting in our front room hearing the squeals of delight and wonder and wows makes it all worthwhile and there`s no better feeling you can get when hearing them."
This year saw the lights being turned on by Ellie the Ellenor mascot at an official switch-on event for the first time, with mulled wine, mince pies, juice and cakes.
Mr Matthews added: "Both Lisa and I and our family had a lovely evening and it was great to see the local community come out and see the lights and support their local hospice at the same time.
"We would also like to thank SAFElectrical, Co-op Dene Holm, Co-op Perry Street, Asda, Printboss in Northfleet and B&Q Gravesend for their continued support of this display”.
