A cat which was found blooded and with its lip hanging off has been saved after kind-hearted people came to its rescue.

The feline, which has been named Olly, was spotted injured near the Clock Tower in Gravesend by a woman on her way to work.

Katie Hayes saw the wounded animal and managed to take a photo of him and post it on social media. Ms Hayes said: “I saw the cat’s lower lip had been ripped from its jaw, leaving a large gaping hole.

“I took a photo but it then ran off to a building site.”

Ms Hayes was able to put the photo on social media which then resulted in other animal lovers going out to look for the injured cat.

Several people helped search the area but the cat evaded them.

That was until Gravesend resident Ryan Hilbert came to the rescue.

The 25-year-old, of York Road, was determined to find the cat, no matter how long it took him.

He spent eight days trying to locate Olly and eventually manage to catch him.

The black and white puss is now in the care of Anim-Mates animal rescue charity, which is based in Ash, near New Ash Green.

Cat fosterer Bobbie Bajwa said: “Because Olly’s injury, which was possibly caused by a car, was so old he could not be surgically treated straight away.

“Initially he was on antibiotics and pain relief but earlier this week NOV 5 his lip was stitched back to his jaw.”
