An 11-year-old boy has been left housebound by groin surgery after he was knocked off his bike in a hit and run crash.
Harvey Cowpland was riding a bicycle in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, when he was knocked down by a white Audi at around 2.45pm on Saturday.
Injury to his groin left him needing surgery and a two night stay at Medway Maritime Hospital, with him returning home to Bucks Cross Road, Northfleet, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Harvey’s mum Carrina said: “The worst thing is that they just drove off. They could have at least stopped to say they were sorry, that they hadn’t seen him, because we all know that children can sometimes step out in front of cars.
“I couldn’t leave an injured animal so to leave a child in the middle of a busy road... It’s shocking that someone would do that.”
Harvey had been making his way to meet friends when the collision happened and called out for help when he hit the ground. Fortunately his older brother was at the top of the road and an ambulance was called.
The schoolboy is now facing three weeks out of the classroom and six weeks without any sport or outdoor activities.
In addition to the groin injury, he also suffered bruising to his legs and arms and grazing across his hip.
“It has been hard for him because he does his football and gymnastics and is always out on his bike, but that’s been destroyed,” his mum continued.
“He is very active but he’s not going to be out and about at all for quite a few weeks. He can’t even stand for five minutes at the moment.
“It’s the most horrifying thing I’ve seen and trying to keep myself together as it was all going on was dreadful.
“I am very grateful that he is okay, but it’s horrible to know that person is still driving around.”
Police are appealing for information about the incident, with the car involved seen heading towards the roundabout for the A2 after the collision.
