Kent MP Adam Holloway was among seven MPs to vote against a report by the privileges committee that said Boris Johnson misled the Commons about ‘partygate.’
But the Gravesham MP, a long time supporter of the former prime minister, was in a minority as the Commons overwhelmingly backed the report with 345 MPs accepting its findings.
The privileges committee had advocated sanctions against Mr Johnson including a 90 day suspension but he had evaded this by announcing he was to quit as an MP before the report was debated.
The cross-party committee's report had found Mr Johnson committed repeated offences when he said Covid rules had been followed at No 10 at all times.
Supporters of Mr Johnson questioned the impartiality of the committee and said they would vote against.
Among Kent’s MPs, most did not vote although there may have been many differing reasons for not doing so.
They included: Tracy Crouch,Chatham and Aylesford; Damian Collins, Folkestone and Hythe; Helen Grant Maidstone and the Weald; Natalie Elphicke, Dover; Sir Roger Gale, Thanet North; Gordon Henderson, Sittingbourne and Sheppey; Rehman Chisti, Gillingham and Rainham; Kelly Tolhurst, Rochester and Strood; Laura Trott; Sevenoaks; Craig Mackinlay, Thanet South.
MPs who backed the Privileges report included Damian Green, Ashford; Greg Clark, Tunbridge Wells and Tom Tugendhat, Tonbridge and Malling.
