A group of children are stepping up to the plate to feed the homeless after their charity bake sale proved a hit.
The Meopham for the Homeless group has been running since the beginning of lockdown to help those in need.
Food is collected from residents up to three times a week and delivered to the Daytime Hub at Gravesend Methodist Church to cook breakfasts for rough sleepers.
But it was arguably Meopham's children who made the single biggest contribution earlier this month after they organised a bake sale in aid of the food drive.
Ethan and Harvey-lee Bill, aged 3 and 7 were joined by neighbours Katie Thornton, 13 and Owen Webb, 5 in setting up a stall to sell treats.
Little did they know they would raise £120 thanks to some hungry customers and generous donations.
Vicki Clarke, manager of the Daytime Hub presented a certificate of appreciation to the children in recognition of their hard work.
She said: "I think these kids are an amazing example of the fantastic youths we have in today’s society.
"They are kind, thoughtful and a real credit to their parents. I feel very proud to be surrounded by such wonderful and supportive communities."
Meopham North councillor Gary Harding said: "I am so proud of the children who worked so hard to raise so much to help the homeless, and of the people of Meopham who have since the lockdown started, contributed up to three times a week.
"Also, I am very pleased to do my part as a citizen and as a councillor, by collecting and delivering as much as possible, the donations."
