Learn how to cycle safely with the Spot the Cyclist Challenge at Gravesend’s Cyclopark this weekend.
The event is being held in partnership with Sainsbury’s Dartford to support Road Safety Week, the UK’s biggest road safety campaign.
A supermarket lorry will be parked at Cyclopark, with cyclists invited to take to the wheel and learn just how tricky it can be to spot them on the road.
The popular community complex is also holding its own safety initiative, dubbed ‘Doing what it takes to cycle safe’, which is aiming to raise awareness and delivers valuable information on how to cycle appropriately around lorries.
Laurence Tricker, CEO for Cyclopark said: “This is a great community safety event, actually demonstrating the hazard by physically changing places from your bike seat and going up into the cab of a lorry.”
I was really shocked by how restricted the view from the cab is. It’s a free event and for any regular cycling commuters it’s an experience that will make you think and even change how you ride, which could lead to a life saving decision.”
The Spot the Cyclist Challenge runs from 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
