A trip to Carlisle United may be scant reward for Ebbsfleet’s FA Cup win on Saturday but manager Liam Daish was philosophical following the draw for the first round proper.

The Fleet face a 680-mile round-trip on November 3 after Moses Ashikodi’s 87th-minute winner earned them a 1-0 win at Woking.

Carlisle are 17th in League 1 and will start as hot favourites to progress, although they have struggled at home in recent weeks. The Cumbrians have gone seven hours without scoring a goal in front of their own fans and are winless in six attempts at Brunton Park.

Daish (pictured) said: "It’s a long trip for us, an away tie, which is not ideal. But we are happy to be in the draw, in the round, so we’ll try to make the most of it and try to progress.

"We’ll go there with belief but of course they’re a League 1 side and they’re holding their own. They’re at home and it’ll be a tough place for us to go.

"We’re not expected to do anything, but we’ll take confidence from what we did on Saturday and we’ll try to have a real go at them."

The tie takes Daish back to the scene of his first game in charge of the club. Gravesend & Northfleet held Carlisle to a 2-2 draw in February 2005, with Matt Lovell and Jay Saunders on target.
