Liam Daish is continuing his quest for new strikers this week after failing to land two of his targets.
Much-travelled striker Leon Knight and Crawley marksman Liam Enver-Marum went elsewhere, forcing the Ebbsfleet boss to look again.
He said: "I was fairly close to getting them but both fell through at the last minute. I spoke to Leon after the game against Braintree and he was due to come in last week but couldn’t make it.
"I was also hoping to do something with Liam but he went to York as part of the Richard Brodie deal.
"I’ll keep on searching. There are a couple of other irons in the fire and something might happen before the trip to Dorchester at the weekend."
Ricky Shakes is back in the fold at Stonebridge Road, with the former Trinidad and Tobago international closing in on his 100th appearance for the club.
Shakes turned out for the reserves in midweek and Daish said: "Ricky wasn’t doing anything. I asked him to come in and he was up for it. He has signed forms and we’ll see how things go in the next couple of weeks."
Fleet will be aiming for a third away win when they travel to bottom side Dorchester on Saturday.
