A trainline between Kent and London was shut after a person was hit by a train.
The emergency services were called to the line between Swanley and Sole Street early this morning.
Southeastern tweeted: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Rochester and #Swanley.
"Trains will be held in platforms whilst emergency services and Network Rail response staff access the track.
"Trains that run between Gillingham and Victoria are disrupted."
Network Rail staff and emergency services remained at the scene for a number of hours and numerous services were cancelled or diverted.
At 10.34am, the train company said disruption was expected to continue until at least midday.
"Our engineers on site are unable to repair the train so it can move back to a depot, so we are arranging for another rescue train to attach to it so it can move back to a depot."
A minibus was arranged to run between Sole Street and Meopham from 10.50am.
A further update just before 11am said the line had reopened for trains heading between Swanley and Rochester but remain shut London-bound.
The line was reopened in both directions by about 1pm.
British Transport Police have been approached for a comment.
