A flat fire left a living room destroyed and the rest of the property smoke damaged last night.

Nobody was in the ground floor flat in Augustine Road when it caught fire at 11pm.

Three pumps were called to the scene and fire-fighters had the flames out within 18 minutes.

The cause of the fire has yet to be identified by Thames-side Fire and Rescue.
