Love Island star Cara De La Hoyde has backed a beauty retailer's campaign to help ensure families have ready access to essential toiletries and sanitary items.

The former contestant on the ITV show is throwing her weight behind Superdrug's Christmas Give Back campaign to help eradicate hygiene poverty.

The 31-year-old is working with the charity Beauty Bank which donates essential personal care products to local charities nationwide.

Today, Cara, who is from Gravesend, has been kicking off the campaign, before the retailer's trucks set off to deliver hundreds of everyday essential toileteries and Christmas gift donations to charities across the UK.

She said: "I am so proud to be supporting Superdrug's Christmas Give Back campaign with the charity Beauty Banks.

"As a mum with young children I know the worry and heartache some families will go through trying to provide for their families at Christmas.

"Times are tough enough at the moment anyway, but trying your best to make sure your children have a lovely Christmas, it will only add to the worries.

Cara, married beau and fellow Love Island contestant Nathan Massey in Canterbury before the pandemic and have two-year-old son Freddie-George and newborn daughter Delilah together who was born at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.

They couple, who won the show in 2016, were the first to get engaged after meeting in the villa.

She has previously spoken out and used her online social media platforms to help normalise the trials and tribulations of young motherhood.

Speaking about her latest campaign, she said: "I think its incredible that Superdrug are going to be delivering hundreds of essential toiletries and Christmas gifts to people in need across the country this festive season.

"It really couldn't be easier for everyone to get involved and donate by buying an extra item when shopping in store at Superdrug and dropping it in a Beauty Banks Bin.

"Each donation will make a huge difference to a family in need this Christmas."
