Lady luck was shining on one woman this week when she fell 20ft from her bedroom window – and escaped with nothing but a bruise.
Maria Hudson, 45, of Elm Road, Gravesend, gave her neighbours the fright of their lives when she fell, bounced off a trailer in their back garden and hit the ground.
She had suffered a seizure moments before the fall on Monday and had opened the window to call for help.
“The last thing I remember is being downstairs with the cats and then I managed to get upstairs and open the window,” she explained.
“When I have a seizure I go and look for help.
“My neighbour was out in his garden and I saw him and opened the window to ask for help.
“Apparently his girlfriend was working in between the houses – she was putting bits of wood in this trailer – and then I came down and frightened the life out of her.”
An air ambulance was called just before 3pm and landed in nearby King’s Farm.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said Ms Hudson was given treatment at the scene.
She was then taken by road to Medway Maritime Hospital but only has a bruise to show for the incident, albeit one that stretches from her elbow to her armpit.
Ms Hudson said she was back home enjoying a cup of tea by 6pm.
“I was strapped up like a turkey and had something round my neck to stop me moving my head,” she said of her time at the hospital.
“I am a bit claustrophobic and don’t like being held down – all I wanted was a cup of tea!”
X-rays taken at the hospital revealed no broken bones – and Ms Hudson’s glasses even remained intact.
