The family-run firm invited select guests, including several social media influencers and even dogfluencer Hari the Cockapoo, for an event to mark the grand unveiling last Friday evening (October 25).

In a show of support to other local businesses, attendees were welcomed with a complimentary glass of Kent-based Balfour Leslie’s Reserve Rose NV sparkling wine and Jake’s Tree apple juice, before sampling some delicious bites from local suppliers Kent Crisps, Wooden Spoon Preserving Company and Karamix.

Managing director Tammy Woodhouse said: “It was lovely to see so many of our loyal customers and favourite influencers on Friday evening to help us launch our Christmas displays.

“We were delighted by their response to our wonderful displays and it is testament to the hard work of our team who made the magic happen.

“The reaction to our increased range of sustainable decorations and local food suppliers was also very positive.”

After the presentation, customers were invited to explore the hundreds of enchanting decorations and indulge in artisanal sausages featured in dishes at Millbrook’s 300-seater restaurant.

Guests also received goodie bags filled with handpicked treats from local and eco-conscious suppliers, including Biddenden Vineyards, Staplehurst Nurseries, Cocoba Chocolate, Carrington Food, Felt So Good and Tilnar Art.

Millbrook, which has sites in Staplehurst and Southfleet, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary at its Gravesend base.

Reflecting on the journey of the garden centre, which opened in Station Road in 1994, Tammy previously said: “It’s been a rollercoaster and a joy and there’s certainly never a dull day!

“I’m really proud of what my parents, Dick and Sue Allen achieved. The business has changed a lot over the years.”

Some of these changes include the addition of a 300-seater restaurant, food hall and butchers as well as offering environmentally friendly products.
