Emergency services called to Hermitage Road, Higham after a man was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a tractor

A man was airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries when he was hit by a tractor.

Police, ambulance crews and fire engines were called to Stables Cottages in Hermitage Road, Higham yesterday morning.

Firefighters say the man was run over by a tractor and tried calling for help after suffering injuries to his legs and arms.

He was helped across a field to a helicopter, which then airlifted him to Kings College Hospital in London.

An air ambulance report reveals the man also sustained injuries to his hand and chest.He was fully conscious before being flown to hospital.

Details of the incident have now been passed to the Health and Safety Executive.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 9.45am on January 1 to an address in Hermitage Road, Higham, following a report that a man had been in collision with a tractor.

"He was taken to hospital and treated for injuries described as superficial. The matter has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive."
