Man arrested after serious assault

A fight left a man in hospital suffering from facial injuries just yards from where firefighters tackled a blaze.

Police patrolling Gravesend town centre happened upon the disturbance in Queen Street, Gravesend close to its junction with King Street at about 6pm on Tuesday (June 7).

A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of serious assault and is being questioned by police.

While police dealt with the incident several crews tackled a blaze in a derelict building on the same road.
